2000, the year of the merger

The first year of the new millennium also saw the creation of Transports de Martigny et Régions SA (TMR) from the merger of the Martigny-Châtelard and Martigny-Orsières railways.
1910, connecting the Entremont region

For the first time, the Martigny-Orsières railway links the Rhône valley to the Entremont. It was enthusiastically welcomed by the local population, who soon referred to the line simply as “MO”.
1906,
a heroic effort

The Martigny-Châtelard railway makes history as it overcomes the steep slopes of the Trient valley for the first time. This also marked the inception of a legendary train that later came to be known as the Mont-Blanc Express.

The company employs approximately 230 people, and the ongoing professional development of our staff is one of our main priorities. As such, we also train about 20 apprentices each year.

Providing a link between the valleys and the mountains

In addition to two legendary trains, the Mont Blanc Express towards Chamonix and the St Bernard Express towards Entremont and the Bagnes valley, TMR also operates multiple bus lines under the banner of the famous St Bernard dog. These provide an invaluable transport link between the valleys and the mountains.
