OCTOFER Rolling stock Maintenance Center

IN OPERATION AS OF 2025

TMR has been selected to carry out the maintenance of the future FLIRT Evo electric multiple units for RegionAlps, designed and manufactured by Stadler. To successfully accomplish this mission, the Catogne hall, located behind the Octofer bogie overhaul hall, will be transformed.

Directly connected to the Martigny CFF station, this new maintenance center is situated on the Simplon line, providing a strategic and easily accessible location.

By this project, TMR reaffirms its commitment and desire to strengthen its activities and reinforce its leadership in railway know-how, bogie overhaul, maintenance, and engineering.

Goal

Our aim is to welcome the first trainsets by the summer of 2025, with construction work having started this summer. The first few years of operation of this maintenance center will allow the establishment of a structure that is expected to employ around 25 full-time employees by 2030, dedicated to maintaining several dozens of trainsets each year. It should be noted that the maintenance contract for the RegionAlps Flirt Evo trains will occupy about 50% of the workshops potential capacity. Thanks to the bogie workshop located in the same facility, interesting synergies will be offered to our clients.

Planned Work

To accommodate the maintenance of the RegionAlps trains, the following work is planned:

Creation of three 100-meter-long tracks with inspection pits (tracks  nos. 93 to 95).

Construction of a new metal structure to support walkways and bridge cranes, particularly above two tracks.

Construction of a significant pit on track no. 93 to implant an underfloor wheel lathe, followed by an adjustment track.

Reconditionning of a 100-meter-long outdoor track extending from the lathe track no. 93 to allow re-profiling of trainsets up to 205 meters in length.

Construction of a large-scale “crossing” to accommodate a lifting table for bogie or large component replacement, thus optimizing maintenance operations.

Two leveled tracks nos. 94 and 95 will allow for various adjustments in compliance with regulatory standards.

START OF WORK

On August 21, 2024, the construction work officially took off.
